The company was initiated in 1983 as a new superior tea brand with an ambition of selling packaged tea with umpteen qualities. Anselm Perera was the main face behind this company. Mlesna the name is actually a mirror image of his first name ie Anselm. They have pure origin Ceylon tea.
The company which started with humble beginnings attracted tea connoisseurs around the world. It revolutionized the Tea center and Tea kiosk concept in Sri Lanka by opening their first store at Colombo in 1985. Now, this company has about sixteen outlets throughout Sri Lanka . It not just limited its outlet in the country, but expanded it to more than 50 countries including Russia, Australia, Japan, India, and Greece. It created a special market for value added tea. Started with a staff of fewer than 10 people, now Mlesna has over 350 people in its team and strives to deliver the same quality as earlier. It now has more than 3000 different products. All of the products are of superior quality made from excellent tea leaves bestowed with unique flavor and an enticing aroma .The tasters in Mlesna are experts and have more than 25 years of experience. It also won 82 awards including 19 presidential export awards, 23 Lanka Star awards, 17 Asia star awards and nine world star awards in terms of packaging.
