Falling sick often can have numerous drawbacks, like skipping dates, staying home while your friends go partying and eating boring sick people's food like soup and khichdi. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? What if we told you that good health can be a consistent thing in your life with just a few tweaks?
There’s no supplement or pill to guarantee you good health, or promise a good immune system but adopting a healthy lifestyle can make a world of difference. Go for a walk, jog or a run – Lazing around and sitting around can make you sluggish. But what you didn’t know is that it makes your immune system sluggish as well. Exercise, on the other hand, boosts your immune system and makes it more active. Studies show that people who exercise have better-functioning white blood cells (the ones that help fight off infection) than people who don’t exercise. Exercise also de-stresses you and relaxes your mind and body because of the release of endorphins which affect the brain in a positive way.
Eat right – Your diet needs to be on point if you want a healthy immune system. A healthy diet with the right balance ensures that your body gets all the vitamins and minerals it needs and that it’s not deprived of any nutrients. When your immune system is low, or when you’re sick you should avoid alcohol and sugar since the microbes that are wreaking havoc in your body thrive on sugar. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants, on the other hand, can help fight off infection. Think colours, eat vegetables that are yellow, red or green since they’re rich in antioxidants.
Drink green tea – Green tea is good for your immune system and has ingredients that have beneficial properties and boost your health. It also boosts the metabolism and speeds up the weight loss.
Last but not the least, you need to get enough sleep. Regular bouts of sleepless nights leave you tired and prone to infections and illnesses. Get a good night’s sleep so your body can rest and recover!
