India has a population of more than 1.2 billion out of which almost 45 million suffer from coronary artery disease. Nikhil Kumar, Director of the cardiology department in Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon, said that according to the current trends and estimates, India will soon be the highest contributor of cardiovascular cases in the world. By the year 2030, it's predicted that 39.9% deaths will happen due to Cardiovascular ailments.

The bad news is that India is becoming the hub for coronary heart disease but the good news is that there are signs that you can look out for that will help you identify a heart attack one month before it actually happens so that you can take some precautionary actions.

Chest Discomfort

One of the most common symptoms of discovering a heart attack, this symptoms comes in different forms. While some people may experience it as a pressure on the chest while other may feel burning or pinching in the chest region. Discomfort can be felt while physical exertion or while resting. Discomfort to chest might not be the most predominant symptom for a heart attack. Women may not experience discomfort and hence should look out for other symptoms.

Fatigue

As the arteries beginning to block, the heart has to work harder to complete a particular task. People might feel tired too often. This may also lead to taking longer naps not just at night but throughout the day.

Persistent Cold Symptoms

Having cold that just does not go away is another symptom of a heart attack. As the heart works harder to pump blood so that all the organs can function properly, sometimes blood start leaking back in the lungs. This is accompanied by white or pink mucus in the lungs.

Swelling

A bloating effect is seen in patients who might suffer a heart attack. As the heart struggles to pump blood in the body, veins can sell up. This is generally seen in legs, feet and ankle as they are far from the heart. Peripheral cyanosis can also be observed. This causes a blue tinge on the lips or extremities.

Dizziness

The brain might not get proper blood supply due to blockages in the heart which might cause dizziness. You might feel light-headed and should immediately seek medical attention.

Shortness of breath

The heart and the lungs work together in unison. If one organ fails to function properly he another organ is affected automatically. If there is a persistent feeling of breathlessness one you not ignore it and consult a cardiologist at the earliest.

These symptoms start showing themselves almost a month before a cardiac arrest. If you notice either one or a combination of the above symptoms, you should visit a doctor immediately. Take your health in your own hands and act proactively to maintain good heath.
