FOOD TO AVOID ON AN EMPTY STOMACH:

- Citrus Fruits: Citrus fruits are known to contain high levels of citric acid, which can damage the mucous membrane of the stomach, can cause heartburn and can also cause acidity when consumed on an empty stomach.
- Tomatoes: Tomato contains a tannic acid in them which causes gastric ulcers and acidity. It may look tempting but can cause severe health problems in future.
- Bananas: Since the bananas are loaded with high amount of magnesium, they are harmful to the heart and can affect the heart, when consumed alone on an empty stomach.
FOOD TO EAT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH:
- Nuts: Nuts are fully jammed with proteins, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids and are also rich in antioxidants. Because of this, it eases the digestion, maintains the pH levels of body and starves the hunger.
- Honey: Honey contains high levels of serotonin which helps in driving away the lazy mornings and boosts energy levels, making you stay active all day. The antimicrobial properties of honey prevent certain gastrointestinal diseases.
- Oatmeal: Due to the high content of vitamins and minerals, consumption of oatmeal on an empty stomach helps to thicken the lining of the stomach, thereby making the mucous membrane strong enough to fight for the production of hydrochloric acid.
- Buckwheat: Buckwheat, which is considered as a grain, rather than a seed, is a rich source of vitamin B, iron and other proteins that serve as the ideal breakfast food to start your day. It also aids in digestion.
- Whole grain bread: Whole grain bread (without yeast) are recommended to consume on an empty stomach as they are a rich source of iron, selenium, and magnesium, which are helpful in the prevention of anaemia. It regulates the cholesterol levels in the body, fights morning hunger in a healthy way and also maintains the gastrointestinal activities of the body.
