Yes, you probably forgot about the most important part of your morning schedule: breakfast. As annoying and repetitive it may sound: Never skip your breakfast. We have also been told that breakfast is so important, but yet on a busy morning, it easy to let breakfast fall low on your priority list. Taking a few minutes out to eat in the morning can actually make a great difference to your day.

Breakfast literally means to break the fast. Your body is on a huge fast while sleeping without any nutritional intake. Early morning food breaks your fast and gears your body. It can actually fuel your body after an overnight fast. A day without breakfast is like trying to run your car without any petrol.

When we say that you should not forget to eat your breakfast, it is important that you shouldn't put anything in your body, whatever you eat in your first meal should be healthy. These foods should be a good source of essential nutrients, which your body requires. The essential nutrients that you can get in the first meal are less likely to be compensated for the later in the day.  Apart from this, breakfast is also better for your waistline. People who skip breakfast are likely to be overweight , since they consume more high sugar and fatty snacks in the mid-morning, before the lunchtime. It also increases your metabolic rate and helps your body process the next meal quickly. It is a critical meal that influences both our physical and mental dimension.

Breakfast decreases your fatigue and improves your performance. It also restores glucose levels which are essential for proper functioning of the brain. If we fail to replenish our carbohydrate stores during the early morning, the resulting low blood glucose levels can affect our ability to concentrate and perform mental tasks in a better way. It also reduces attention problems over the morning hours instead of being interrupted by the grumbling sound of your stomach. When we first go to sleep, blood glucose levels are proper to support the energy requirements of your body. However, in the early morning, our glycogen stores wane off and blood glucose levels decline. Cortisol levels are also at a peak during this time,  to lower the cortisol levels, we need to consume proper nutrition. Breakfast helps in lowering the level of this stress hormone.

Breakfast is the most satiating meal of the day that can impact the food consumption in the later part of the day. This is mainly due to the impact of our meal pattern on the release of a hormone that controls appetite.

Everyone has surely annoyed you by emphasizing on the importance of breakfast. If you still haven’t heard their voices, listen to your body’s need.
