The scorching heat of summers leaves you dehydrated quickly! If you are involved in any kind of strenuous work, you must be struggling to cope with heat and cursing the blistering sun as the rising mercury levels are doing no good to your body.

Need ways to be hydrated in this sweltering weather. Here are few ways :

  • 1. Drink water: Our body is made of more than half of water and it is used for nearly every bodily function. The dizzy mood, fatigue caused by dehydration can be a replenished by just a tall glass of water. If you don’t like the taste of simple water, you can savor the water with the help of flavors or fruits. But there are other alternatives of hydrating yourself too.

  • 2. Eat loads of fresh fruits: Who says you can only drink water. You can eat it by consuming fresh fruits. The summer friendly fruits and veggies can keep you hydrated in a scrumptious way. Fruits such as watermelon, cucumbers, and strawberries are worth piling on your plate if you are thirsty.

  • 3. Smoothies: Combining several flavors in a glass of smoothie can help you be hydrated in a delicious way. You can enjoy all your beloved flavors, along with being hydrated.

  • 4. Coconut water: People go nuts over this natural tropical drink. It is low in potassium, carbohydrates, yet can help you hydrate with a unique taste. It can only hydrate after light sessions. More rigorous workout sessions need salts to be replenished, which cannot be done with mere coconut water.

  • 5. Sports drink: Energy drinks such as Gatorade and Enerzal are best as a refreshing beverage especially for active individuals. These drinks are basically a combination of carbohydrates, water, and electrolyte and are a source of ultimate replenishment. This beverage is non-carbonated and is best to maintain electrolyte balance by supplying sodium and potassium to your body, which is lost a lot while you sweat. It also prevents muscle spasms and ensures that nerves function properly. Being isotonic, the simple sugars are absorbed quickly and are readily converted into energy, thus, can be a great drink to replenish lost energy. These are worth to be consumed before a workout, after a strenuous workout, while playing sports, trekking or simply to prevent energy slumps in summer.
