Your mom did every possible thing so that you can have a better life. It’s finally the time to give back. Don’t fret a minute about what to get for her on Mother’s day. The best thing you a gift is just some time (without irritation and annoyance).

Here are 10 ways you can make you Mom happy and help her live longer:

Talk with her: A  distance is created in you and your mom. For sure , you also despise it in your innermost heart, but she though smiles every time, is broken inside. ‘Mother is your 1st best friend’. So share as much as you can with her. I know your life is too chaotic and hectic, but you can spare a minute for a person who has spared her whole life for you.

Help her manage stress: Stress does no good and she isn’t efficient enough now to manage it. Whether office goer or a housewife, mom is always choked with thousands of responsibilities. Yes, your life is stressful too, but you can help her manage her stress. You can help her in some easy chores and lessen the burden. Again, take some time out and let her speak out. Maybe she will screech for some vague reasons, but let her do that.  It will help manage her stress.

Involve them in exercise:  Mom and exercise seem like two distinct ends. But the healthy regime is as important to as to you.  Exercise is the solution for pretty much every single chronic problem. Physical activity is essential and the sedentary lifestyle is as harmful as smoking. And exercise doesn’t mean squats or abs, a simple physical activity that can help them stay active and enhance their life. Consult a doctor before suggesting any exercise; otherwise, you can hamper their body rather than improving it.

Accept her as she is: She is too old to change her behavior now. Some traits are attached to her that will not change as many times you try. Your trials will only lead to arguments and stress, which is not at all good for her life. So accept her as she is. Realize some good qualities of her and compliment. After all, she is women and will always be pleased by a flatter.

Take care of her medicines:  She is forgetful, it’s her age to be blamed not her. But reminding her about her daily doses will do no harm to you either. On the contrary, they will please her and of course, her health will improve if the essential medicines are taken on time.

Involve them in social groups: The loneliness and isolation are hurtful beyond emotional pain, it is something that also affects her health. Since a long, she has been so involved in you and your chores that her friends are somewhere lost.  Even fathers spare time for friends, but for mothers, her friends are just a last option. It’s time for her to get a personal space and live her life for a moment. Convince her to meet her long lost friends or simply have her involved in some activities that will help her in making new friends.

Let her have some time for relaxation: Relaxation and Sleep are the most unappreciated aspect of healthy life. Adequate sleep can cause depression, mental problems and ultimately shorten the life. Also, the relaxation time , be as simple as reading a newspaper or watching her favorite serial peacefully (peacefully means without your hindrance) .Let her have her own time and soothe her mind, don’t ask for lunch or your lost pair of socks in that time.

Involve her in spirituality:  Spirituality doesn’t necessarily mean praying or going on some yatra. It just means feeding the soul. Be it a prayer, meditation or just silence, it is essential for calm and comfort. As a mother, she must be involved in  some kind of spirituality herself, so it’s your responsibility to let her peace time be soothing enough and not filled with your continuous yanking or loud music.

Take care of her diet: Mother is the one responsible for what goes in your belly but has you ever wondered about her diet? With her aging, menopausal and certain health problems, there are certain foods essential for her. These foods can help her live longer and better life. Cook for her someday with these foods and if can’t cook, then simply introduce her to those foods, she herself will find out some way to cook with her, after all, she is our wonder chef.

Tell her that you love her: When was the last time you said these three magical words to her? Maybe years ago, while you were too young to know its meaning.  There are millions of reason to her say her love you. I am sure you can think of at least hundreds of them. So what are you are vexing about! These words are simply the best gift you can give.
