While we celebrate ‘World Earth Day’, we often forget that mother earth provides us healthy food, a food that is usually overlooked by us.

‘Eat less from a box and more from the earth’.

It doesn’t mean giving away your favorite foods from the box, but maintaining the right balance between the two.  But what exactly eating earthy food means?

Earthy foods mean food that is of plant and not processed from the plant. With the food industry pampering us with products that are easy to make, we have lost the value of natural foods. That surely doesn’t mean those termed healthy food are bad. But adding a certain amount of freshness to your diet does no harm either. Though eating clean is not that easy and often unrealistic, you have to take care that your food is as close to nature as possible.

According to nature’s law, lower life forms support higher life forms. Since we are at the top, our nutritional needs are complex. Natural foods are an abundant supply of nutrients that are extremely important for healthy food and soul. More the food is closer to nature, more health benefits it will have.

Remember that ‘You are what you eat, so don’t be cheap, fake or hasty.’

Simple ways to eat earthier:

Replace your mid meal snacks by nuts: Is your ‘borborygmus ‘too loud to catch the attention and to suppress it, you resort to snacks. Then there is a healthier option to your snacks- ‘Nuts’. The nuts that you usually add to your desserts can be consumed raw as a healthy snack to curb the hunger pangs without adding calories.

Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs add depth and taste to your cuisine with no fats. A cilantro to your food can make it tasty and healthy. Using herbs doesn’t mean only resorting to exotic ones, search for the local fresh herbs that you can either get easily from your vendor or can even be grown at your place.

Try cooking than using ready to make:  That ready to make is a delicious way to trouble your body. Try for the soups that you can easily cook and you will surely experience the change in terms of both taste and health.

Keep healthy snacks in the fridge: You eat what you get. Never when you are hungry, you go outside to buy stuff; you resort to whatever you find to quench your hunger. So, pack your shelves and refrigerator with as much healthy and earthy foods as possible.

Keep healthy food on your office desk: Eating clean is much easier when you have clean stuff around. So you can have sliced fruits and berries on your office desk. The troublesome hunger can be quenched in a healthier manner. Just watch out that you have enough to suffice every person that comes near your desk.

Rely more on nature food than on the box. Eat your heavily processed foods once a blue moon. And take care that your blue moon doesn’t arise every day.
