Acne is a pimple or a spot which arises on the skin due to excessive accumulation of oil in the pores. it is characterized by inflammation and swelling in the affected area.

Marked by red color spot, they commonly occur on the face, neck, back and shoulders. They are generally not severe or critical as far as the overall health is concerned, but people feel miserable when affected because it spoils your appearance.

People often reach out to lotions and medications for help but there are various natural, quick and effective methods available for its cure.

 

Below are the listed remedies you can easily try at home:

  • Ice: Ice is a quick and an effective way to get rid of the redness and inflammation of the acne. Ice also reduces swelling to a great extent as it improves the circulation of blood to the affected area, and tightens the skin pores. It removes the dirt and oil accumulated over the time on the affected area. For using this method, take an ice cube and wrap it in a piece of cloth and hold it for a while on the part of skin affected and then repeat. ​

  • Lemon Juice: Lemon juice is also a very effective way to treat acne since it is a great source of Vitamin C as it quickly dries up the pimples. Be sure to use fresh lemon juice and not bottled juice, which has preservatives. To use this method, take a clean swab of cotton, dip it in fresh lemon juice and apply it on the pimples a while before going to bed.

Note: The use fresh lemon juice is critical as artificial or bottled one which contains preservatives which might not be good for you skin.

 

  • Toothpaste: Yes, that's right! It might come as a surprise to you that the same toothpaste you use daily for your teeth can also prove useful for treating pimples. To get the best results, use this technique after applying the Ice remedy. For this method, take a pinch of toothpaste and apply it on your pimples before going to bed and wash it thoroughly in the morning. You will notice a significant change in swelling. You can do this during the day also by following the same process and keeping it on your skin for at least half an hour.

Note: Use white toothpaste and not the gel based toothpaste.

 

  • Steam: Steaming is anyways good for your skin plus it also helps in treating acne.It open the pores of your skin and allows it to breathe thereby removing the bacteria, oil and dirt from inside the pores which causes infection or inflammation. Apply an oil-free moisturizer after you dry off your skin for good results.

 

  • Garlic: Garlic, as an agent for treatment of skin, has remarkable as it is antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and is rich in antioxidants. The sulfur in garlic helps to a great extent to cure the pimples. Cut two pieces of a fresh garlic clove and rub it on the pimples. Let is stay for 5-10 minutes after which you can wash your skin with lukewarm water. For best results, repeat it several times a day.

 

  • Baking soda: Baking Soda has proven to be yet another effective home remedy to cure pimples. It helps in exfoliating the skin to remove the dead skin cells.To some extent, it also helps reduce the oils and dirt accumulated in the affected area. Wash your skin properly and leave it a little damp. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with some water or fresh lemon juice and make a thick paste. Apply it on the affected area and wait for few minutes allowing it to dry. Then wash your face after a while with warm water. Do it twice a day for good results.

Note: Avoid keeping baking soda on your skin for long as it causes dryness or irritation.

  • Honey: Honey is a great source of natural antibiotics which can boost the healing process and prevent infections. Take a clean swab of cotton, dip it in honey and apply it on the pimples. Do this few times a day on regular intervals. Wash the skin with lukewarm water. There is one more way to treat pimples using honey. Make a paste by mixing honey and cinnamon and apply it over the pimples before sleeping. You will notice an improvement in inflammation or swelling in the morning. Wash the skin well with cold water.

 

  • Cucumber: Cucumber is an extremely rich source of potassium and vitamins A, C and E. It has a soothing effect on the skin and makes the skin cooler. For treating the pimples with this method, cut pieces of one or two fresh cucumbers and soak them in water for an hour. What happens is, the nutrients, such as vitamin A, potassium and chlorophyll are transferred to the water. Strain the water and either drink it or use it to wash your face. Another way is to make a face mask by making a paste by grinding a cucumber. Apply the mask on your face and leave it for 15 minutes allowing it to dry. Then wash your skin with warm water. This will clean dirt and bacteria from the pores of your skin.
